New Board of WISTA Norway

End April 2019, four brand new Board Members were elected by the Norwegian General Assembly and last week these fresh faces and the six more experienced board members had their first constitutional meeting.
Pia Meling is taking over as President of WISTA Norway, succeeding Bjørg Ekornrud who has chosen to step back after 12 years of dedicated service in this role. Pia has a broad management experience from shipping; both within chartering and commercial management of vessels at the leading dry bulk operator Klaveness, as the General Manager of Nav/Com service provider Radio Holland and as Area Sales Director for Marine Products in Wilhelmsen Ships Service. Pia is now the Vice President of Massterly – a joint venture between Wilhelmsen and Kongsberg Maritime and the world’s first company set up to operate autonomous vessels as part of an environmentally friendly, safe and cost-efficient logistics chain.
The Vice President and Head of Finance in WISTA Norway is Siv Kathrin Remøy Vangen, who’s day job is leading Maritime Bergen, an organization set out to grow and promote the Maritime industry in Bergen on the Norwegian west coast. Siv is replacing Tone Kristiansen in this role, as Tone has chosen to step down after some 20 years in this important role. Siv has a background from TTS Offshore.
There are four further board members from Bergen: SSY’s Dry Cargo Period Broker Siri Sundal Shield, Dyveke Meland who is a Marine Broker at CR Nordic, G2 Ocean’s Director Legal and Compliance Cecilie Koch Hatlebrekke and Benedicte Bjorøy who is SVP HR and Organizational Development at Shearwater GeoService.
Brand new board members from Oslo include Astrid Lillebo, Senior Underwriter at DNK (Den Norske Krigsforsikring for Skib), Stine Mundal who works as Project Manager, Approval in DNV GL and Emilie Christiansen, Senior Claims Executive/Lawyer at Skuld. Emilie recently wrapped up her two years as President of Youngship International. The 10th board member is Pareto’s Business Manager (Shipping & Offshore) Marthe Lamp Sandvik, who has also been very active in Yougship, founded the “10 women to watch” list and previously held the position as COO in Lorentzen & Stemoco.
