PORT COMMITTEE

Purpose:

The Ports Committee aims to create a group of Members to address port issues and provide input and expertise on request and on behalf of WISTA International to organizations addressing port issues, including issues regarding:

· port State control;

· reception facilities;

· infrastructure and capacity challenges, to include the availability of alternate fuels as well as the money required for infrastructure/equipment upgrades and funding sources;

· fuel availability;

· bribery, corruption, harassment, and unlawful detention;

· digitalization and automation;

· physical and cyber security;

· crew disembarkation/changes;

· environmental protection in ports; and

· how to attract more diversity to port operations and port infrastructure, including increased participation of women in port, highlighting the different roles and opportunities available, and improving conditions for women in ports.

Role:

To serve as a knowledge bank to assist WISTA International as needed, including:

· keeping the global organization abreast of upcoming or pressing issues;

· providing topics, narratives, or speakers for WISTA regional and international conferences; and

· providing input or attendance for external engagements as requested by WISTA International
