WISTA Tech & Futures Committee will represent WISTA at the WMTC2022

Our WISTA Tech & Futures Committee will represent WISTA at the WMTC2022 in Copenhagen, 17:00 CET, 27th of April. Under the headline “Creating sustainable shipping through technology and innovation” the conference will address the huge amount of challenges; the quest for decarbonization and battling pollution, the impact of disruptive technologies, our vulnerabilities to cyber-attacks and a severe skills shortage. WISTA brings a panel with participants from WISTA UK, WISTA Germany, WISTA Italy, WISTA Monaco and WISTA Sweden, showcasing female tech leadership to the wider maritime sector. The session, titled WISTA International – Empowering Women in Tech to Achieve the Maritime Transformation, will also honor the reinstatement of one of WISTA’s oldest associations; WISTA Denmark.

Scope of Panel Session: The maritime transformation, including e.g. the digitalization of business and operations, embracing the ESG agenda and the urgency for decarbonization requires a collective effort.
Whilst technology development is accelerating across the maritime industry, the general uptake of new technology and ideas can be slow. There is a need to address lagging and uncertain regulations, to bridge cost gaps and to improve infrastructure whilst being aware of inequalities and the need for a just transition. Technology leadership across sectors and value ecosystems is hereby essential.
WISTA International, through its membership base, taps into the knowledge and expertise of almost 4,000 women (and men) in leadership positions across 55 national associations. WISTA’s Tech & Futures Committee aims to mobilize that membership base to engage and share knowledge, playing a grassroot role in transforming this industry. This while at the same time showcasing female tech leadership to the wider maritime sector.
The session will give the audience insight into how WISTA can have a positive impact on the sustainable development of ocean transport and trade.
