WISTA Mexico started negotiations for the signature of a MoU for cooperation with the CESNAV (Semar)

The objective of this Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) is that women from the maritime, naval and port sectors, members of WISTA MEXICO, get access to the master programmes offered at the Centre of Superior Naval Studies (Centro de Estudios Superiores Navales, in Spanish) in the near future.

The first meeting was held in December with Admiral José Luis Arellano Ruíz, rector of the Naval University in Mexico and it is expected a new one in March, to work with further details to sign it. It is expected to begin this joint effort with just a few places for the master programme in maritime customs and port administration and extend it to other master programmes in a later stage.

Dr. Adriana Avila Zúñiga Nordfjeld, president of WISTA MEXICO said that she was very grateful to the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar in Spanish) for working together to make this cooperation possible, and give this unique opportunity to female members of the organization to strengthen their academic skills and training in the area.

She added that Admiral Arellano Ruíz, appointed to the Vice-Admiral responsible for the Port Captains and Maritime Affairs Unit (UNICAPAM) to continue the negotiations meetings to finally sign the MoU.
