WISTA Brazil Members and friends in action during International Coastal Clean Up Day
September 21, 2019
On Saturday, September 21, WISTA Brazil and its Members gathered at Ibis Hotel Rio de Janeiro Barra da Tijuca to do beach cleanup and attend a presentation given by one of our Members, Fernanda Castro, who works at Wärtsilä do Brasil, where she shared her sustainable initiatives as well as that of Wartsila with the sponsorship of the Seabin project.
The Navy sent the Brazilian Merchant Marine Academy also attended the presentation and joined forces in the cleanup of the breakwater. The cleanup activity lasted one hour and the photo shows how much was taken from the rocks.
At the end of the activity, Wärtsilä donated the famous orange umbrella made from plastic bottles to the participant who collected more litter.
We thank our Member Fernanda Castro for her time and for an inspiring presentation about sustainable actions everyone can incorporate in the daily routine, our Members and Friends of WISTA Brazil and the Brazilian Navy for taking part of this initiative together with the students from the Merchant Marine College.
Also, a big thanks to Ibis Hotel for offering their library where our Member Fernanda gave her presentation.
