WISTA Sweden AGM and spring meeting

June 14, 2024

WISTA Sweden’s AGM combined with a spring meeting was held in Gothenburg on the 16–17 of April 2024. A group of about 50 WISTA members attended the AGM.

At the AGM, new board members were elected. The board now consists of Christina Palmén, Angela Jenhed, Anna Danesjö Jarestam, Kerstin Hansdotter, Nina Yngve, Carolina Kihlström (new), Lotten Kronudd, Klara Johansson, Elin Stenberg (new) and Agnes Olsson.

The agenda included the annual general meeting followed by lunch at the Riverton Hotel. After lunch we welcomed Maria Holmberg, Director of People & Organisational Excellence at Stena AB, to the stage. She gave a highly appreciated lecture on sustainable leadership with IDG (Inner Development Goals), which Stena has embraced and works with in various ways across the entire group.

The next speaker was Charlott Andersson, a strategist at the Swedish Transport Administration, who talked about how the agency’s research efforts within the Maritime Portfolio initiated their gender equality work. By measuring and quantifying aspects—such as the number of female researchers in projects, the number of women in the group assessing projects, etc.—they have established a clear current status and identified areas needing improvement.

Results from WISTA Sweden’s membership survey conducted last fall were presented by Anna Danesjö Jarestam and Angela Jenhed. We also heard about the new round of WISTA Sweden’s mentorship program that has just started.

The next day, we gathered for a boat trip out to Donsö, where Joakim Vonasek and his colleagues welcomed us to the Donsö Maritime Training Centre (DMTC). We had the opportunity to get an interesting lecture on leadership and coaching employees. We also got to try steering both large and small vessels in their simulators.

After lunch at Donsö Conference, where Sally Johnsson from Donsötank gave a speech on her shipping company as well as the shipping industry on Donsö, it was time to take the boat back to the mainland.
