APAC and WISTA Panama Joint Visit to Panama Canal Railway

In an effort to continue strengthening the connection between various actors in the logistics and transportation sector, the Panamanian Association of Freight Forwarders (APAC) and WISTA PANAMA organized an inter-guild trip through the Panama Railroad, in a strategic tour of one of the country’s most important logistical assets.

The meeting, which brought together industry leaders, created spaces for networking and collaboration, highlighting the importance of the Trans-Isthmian Railroad as a key element in the efficiency of trade and logistical connectivity of Panama, providing an efficient and complementary alternative to the Panama Canal.

Additionally, representatives from the Panamanian Maritime Chamber, the Logistics Business Council (COEL), Mujer Más, ProPanama, and the International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP) participated, enriching the day with their perspectives and knowledge.

The trip not only allowed for the exploration of the operational advantages of the railroad but also served as a meeting point for guilds and academia, reinforcing the importance of working together for the development of Panama as a global logistics hub.

Throughout the day, key conversations were generated about challenges and opportunities in intermodal logistics and the maritime-port sector, seeking synergies between companies, associations, and academia to continue innovating and strengthening Panama’s logistics ecosystem.

These types of initiatives reflect the commitment of APAC and WISTA PANAMA to creating spaces for collaboration and growth for their members, ensuring that Panama continues to be a benchmark in global maritime and logistics trade.
