HR COMMITTEE

Purpose:

The Human Resources Committee (HRC) is responsible for the development and effective implementation of strategies to disseminate knowledge to all NWAs, and to promote the training of younger generations, who will in turn assume positions of responsibility in the future, as well as life-long education programs available for members.

Scope:

  • Emphasize the significance of life-long education by all NWAs; it will work for the development and upgrading of members’ skills; dissemination and management of knowledge towards the benefit of all members, such as their reinforcement, with the goal being their assumption of positions of responsibility in the shipping sector.
  • Seek scholarship offers for members from companies and organizations in the industry.
  • Be responsible for the ICS – WISTA Scholarships process, i.e., selecting the scholarship recipients, coordinating with the National WISTA Associations (NWAs) and providing guidance and support to the students until their final exams.
  • Encourage NWAs to apply and participate in the IMO/Maritime SheEO Leadership and other programs that might be developed in cooperation with various institutes and organizations.
  • Look for opportunities to improve the welfare of seafarers through various different initiatives in public and private maritime organizations.
