WISTA International is hosting a webinar on how to strengthen women in maritime in Africa

On 20 August we will be hosting a webinar inviting the WIMAs in Africa for a discussion on how to strengthen cooperation and share best practices with National WISTA Associations in Africa.

Following the successful celebration of the World Maritime Day 2019 theme on “Empowerment of Women in the Maritime Community’ the IMO at its 31st session in Dec.2019 adopted a Resolution on “Preserving the Legacy of the WMD Theme 2019 and Achieving a Barrier Free Working Environment for Women in the Maritime sector”.

In January 2020, the IMO and WISTA International signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) on Technical Cooperation. As part of the areas of Mutual Understanding and collaboration, the parties agreed to Strengthen Cooperation and share best practices between IMO-established regional Women in Maritime Associations (WIMAs) and WISTA International’s National WISTA Associations (NWAs).
