Challenges and Solutions for Automotive Imports in Callao
In our latest Logistics Thursday session, Catherine Margaret Navarro Acosta de Herrera, representing WISTA Peru, interviewed Scelza Lamarca, Legal Deputy Manager of the Peruvian Automotive Association (AAP). They discussed the main challenges facing the automotive sector within the foreign trade logistics chain. Vehicle imports are encountering obstacles such as port access congestion, a lack of adequate infrastructure, additional costs for area usage, and delays in container retrieval, all of which impact the sector’s efficiency.
Key measures have been identified to improve this situation, including implementing an effective road plan, constructing modern and secure pre-port areas, optimizing customs processes, and increasing investment in port infrastructure. At WISTA Peru, we continue to promote dialogue and solutions to strengthen foreign trade in the country.
