WISTA Brazil AGM 2024 Presents New ExCo and Plans for the Association

March 22, 2024

On March 22, 2024, WISTA Brazil’s AGM 2024 was held in person in Rio de Janeiro, marking the first general alignment event under the 2024-2026 management of WISTA Brazil. Broadcast live to members across Brazil, the meeting was a landmark event for the association.

Led by co-presidents Tainá Magalhães and Ana Paula Costa, along with Vice President Flávia Melo, the event highlighted the progress already made by WISTA Brazil and outlined the new initiatives for the upcoming periods. Additionally, the new Executive Committee (ExCo) was introduced, including the current directors and their representatives, as well as a new initiative introduced by the current management: the implementation of Regional Directories across the country. This underscores the commitment to expanding and strengthening the WISTA Brazil network.

“We are pleased with the growth of WISTA Brazil, which is reflected in the approval of our regional directories today, extending our network and multiplying professional opportunities for our members.” – Flávia Melo, Vice President of WISTA Brazil for the 2024-2026 term.

Another highlight of the event was a lecture by psychologist Ruanna Darllen, who spoke on “Navigating Waves: Understanding the Challenges Facing Women in Maritime Careers,” providing valuable insights into the barriers faced by women in this crucial industry sector.

The event received crucial support from Campos Mello Advogados, in cooperation with DLA Piper, which not only facilitated the meeting but also provided a post-AGM cocktail, creating an opportunity for networking and reunions among the attending professionals.
