WISTA Sri Lanka commemorated its 10th anniversary with a keynote discussion titled ‘Charting the Course of Success in a Disruptive World,’ featuring global transformation thought leader Karen Leong, at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo on August 13, 2024.

Reflecting on a decade of progress, WISTA Sri Lanka President Diruni Chanmugam emphasized the organization’s role in empowering women in the maritime sector. “As we embark on the next decade, we rededicate ourselves to connecting, inspiring, and advancing women in shipping and related careers. Together, we will continue to break barriers and create a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous future,” she said.

WISTA Sri Lanka has made significant strides in a traditionally male-dominated industry, advocating for equality and sustainability. Founding President Shehara de Silva recalled the early challenges and the inspiration she found in WISTA’s global network, which led to the establishment of WISTA Sri Lanka.

Karen Leong’s keynote highlighted the need for clarity, resilience, and creativity in leadership, urging leaders to proactively navigate disruptions and embrace change.
