Philippine Beerman

Another chance to meet one of our members! This time we are very pleased to present Philippine Beerman, International Trade and Transport Lawyer at AKD Benelux Lawyers.

Being born in a maritime family, she started at a small maritime firm after law school. She has obtained vast experience in various legal cases pertaining to shipping, freight forwarding and international sales.

“I enjoy cases that allow me to use my creativity to come to a solution, which is best for the client. One case I worked on as a young lawyer considered the arrest of factory stock which stopped the business entirely. Luckily, after an hour the situation was resolved allowing the factory to continue. I really came to understand
the power of the law.

As a lawyer, I like to follow innovation in the industry. For example, sustainable development will require new conditions in contracts, such as including arrangements for limiting an organization’s carbon footprint. I also find it important to teach younger lawyers so they can bring success to their cases.”
