Women's International Shipping & Trading Association

First AGM of members of WISTA Chile prior to discussion sessions

April 4, 2019

The Women’s International Shipping and Trade Association WISTA Chile, presided over by comex specialist Paula Pastén, held its first annual general meeting (AGM) in Santiago, where they discussed relevant industry issues and their relation to the female role.

The organization, which promotes professional growth and development for women linked to the shipping and trade industries, will receive new members who will join the 13 founders, to reinforce the female presence in the context of the modernization of the traditionally male-dominated industry.

We have are focused on the public and private sector, working on international trade and supporting small and medium businesses. Also, we are working on technical content for our first discussion sessions on the industry, which will take place in May, prior to the WISTA Latin American meeting in Panama August 21-23,” detailed WISTA Chile president Paula Pastén.

With support from the organization that was originated in Europe over 45 years ago and recognized by international entities such as Bimco, International Chamber of Shipping and the International Maritime Organization, the members of WISTA Chile will promote a new institutionality to boost trade and the creation of new networks locally and abroad.
