Stepping off the board this year were Kathy Haines and Frances Keeler, both of whom have served the organization in various leadership roles for more than a decade.

“I feel incredibly honored be serving to such important position and continue the legacy of previous leadership and further grow our organization. In a world with increasing importance of diversity and inclusion and address each one of you: “[a]sk not what WISTA can do for you but ask what you do WISTA” to promote success and inclusion for women in our industry,” said Ms. Farrar.

Ms. Farrar has been a member of WISTA USA since 2007, and previously served on the WISTA USA Board for five years. She served as President of NY/NJ Chapter for five years prior to joining the Board. Ms. Farrar is also a Chair of International Standard and Conventions (IOSC) Committee of the Maritime Law Association of United States (MLA) and Chair of the Development Committee of Seamen Church Institute (SCI).

Due to COVID-19, the WISTA USA AGM was held virtually for the second year in a row. The 2022 WISTA USA AGM will be held in Chicago, Illinois in April 2022.

WISTA USA, founded in 1997, is among the largest National WISTA Associations (NWAs) worldwide, with more than 700 members spread across eleven regional Chapters: Connecticut; Delaware River & Bay Area; Florida; Great Lakes/Midwest; New England; New Orleans; New York / New Jersey; the Pacific Northwest (Alaska, Washington, and Oregon); Texas; Washington, DC Metro; and West Coast (California and Hawai’i). WISTA USA members represent all facets of the maritime industry, including shipowners, charterers, operators, brokers, bankers, insurance professionals, attorneys, analysts, and government officials.

WISTA USA’s main goals are providing networking and educational opportunities for WISTA USA members. In pursuit of these objectives, our various regional Chapters hold periodic meetings, seminars, and social gatherings throughout the year, occasionally in conjunction with larger marine industry events. In addition, the WISTA USA Annual General Meeting takes place each spring, and the International Conference, open to all WISTA members worldwide, takes place each fall. All of these events – whether local, regional, national, or international – provide tremendous networking and educational opportunities for our members and thereby enhance the benefits of membership in the organization. For more information on WISTA USA, please visit https://wistainternational.com/association/wista-usa/.
