WISTA International President attends UNCTAD 60 Year Celebratory Annual Leaders Forum

#Forwardtogether; the theme of UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD)’s 60 year celebratory Global Leaders Forum.

A motto WISTA International goes by, as we celebrate our own 50 year milestone this year, which would not have been possible without strong partnerships.

WISTA International President Elpi Petraki had the honour to be at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva this week, following the opening remarks of Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres, where she also met the Secretary-General of UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Rebeca Grynspan

Empowering women is a key success contributor for a sustainable future of trade & development, and it was great for WISTA International , as an observer organization of UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), to be part of the discussions and hear first hand from world leaders of the both the challenges and the importance of ensuring the resilience of global trade.

It was also an opportunity to attend bilateral meetings with key stakeholders to discuss how to strengthen the collaboration between the two organisations, to create a more gender equal sector. Special thanks to Shamika Sirimanne, Ph.D. , Frida Youssef , Mark Assaf , Jan Hoffmann , Amel Haffouz and Yvette Fernandez for their great hospitality and valuable support of our mission. We look forward to co-creating the gender equal future our industry deserves.

Was also great to touch base with our WISTA SWITZERLAND chapter and thanks is also due to the Swiss Federal Council, The state council of the republic the canton of Geneva and the Executive Council of the City of Geneva for the remarkable reception hosted at Geneva City Hall.
