The position is a mid-level GS-13 maritime officer in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs (EB), Division of Transportation Affairs, Office of Transportation Policy.  The Office of Transportation Policy develops and coordinates policy on international civil aviation and international commercial maritime transport issues, including safety and security, discriminatory and unfair practices, commercial and operational problems encountered abroad, airport and port access, military-civil relations, technical assistance, environmental protection and accident investigations.  In a nutshell, the incumbent would coordinate maritime security policy activities for OTP, taking into consideration current requirements as well as prospective changes in foreign policy objectives, global political and economic developments, major new policy initiatives, and other factors affecting U.S. support of maritime interests, and serves as principal action officer for those issues.
