The world’s largest cruise operator has signed an exclusive representation agreement in Portugal with MMP – Maritimos Manning Portugal. The agreement can make it easier to find jobs for Portuguese and Madeiran people at sea, which can translate into many job offers
The agreement was signed between the managing partner of MMP, Jörg Molzahn, and Caroline Baumgärtner, Director of the Maritime Training area of Carnival Maritime and shows the importance of MAR to encourage the creation of a shipping cluster in Portugal and the Region.
“The cooperation between Carnival Maritime and MMP is a milestone to reach the goal of finding jobs for young Madeira and Portuguese at sea,” Jörg Molzahn said, adding that these jobs are not exclusively aimed at students in the maritime areas , formed by the Infante D. Henrique Nautical School or by other educational establishments oriented to the sea.
Carla Vieira, MMP’s Recruitment Operator in Funchal, and WISTA Portugal member says: “This is a unique opportunity for trained young people who want to take advantage of the opportunity to get to know the world for a few years while gaining the professional experience that allows them to qualify for jobs in tourism and hotels, once they return to shore.”
She also added that the international cruise industry also needs “electronic and mechanical engineers. There are opportunities and the MMP is working with other shipowners, who offer jobs on merchant ships. What is certain is that this partnership can mean a lot of job offers. “
