Powerworkshop: Staying on course in a world of constant interruptions
Dear WISTA The Netherlands members,
In today’s maritime industry, we are expected to be sharp, responsive and always available. Yet the very demands that come with that expectation, constant messages, competing priorities and an always-open inbox, are the same forces that fragment our attention and quietly erode our effectiveness.
As knowledge workers, focus is among our most valuable professional assets. And yet it is the one thing most consistently under pressure. We navigate multiple course changes each day, responding to urgent demands while trying to advance our own work. Over time, this comes at a cost: lost momentum, reduced output and accumulated stress.
In 75 focused minutes, this powerworkshop addresses that challenge directly. Drawing on the latest insights into how the brain processes interruptions, we will examine what constant task-switching actually costs us and why responsiveness and deep focus need not be in conflict. You will leave with a set of clear, practical strategies you can apply immediately to protect your concentration, establish effective boundaries and lead your day with greater intention, even in demanding conditions.
The session will take place in Utrecht on 23 June, at the end of the working day, and will be followed by drinks, giving you the opportunity to continue the conversation with fellow members.
Places are limited to 25 participants. We encourage you to register via the WISTA app at your earliest convenience.
