WISTA USA West Coast Chapter – Vessel Tour
February 15, 2019
We are scheduled to tour one of Matson’s Aloha Class vessels the Daniel K Inouye on Friday, February 15, 2019. We’ll meet in the Lobby area at Matson (1521 Pier C Street in Long Beach) at 12:00 p.m. to read and sign the required Visitor Forms and then will proceed to the ship.
At 3,600 TEUs, Matson’s Aloha Class vessels are the largest containerships built in the U.S. Designed specifically for Matson’s Hawai’i service, the new vessels bring greater capacity as well as state-of-the-art “green ship” technology features, including a more fuel efficient hull design, dual fuel engines that can be adapted to use liquefied natural gas (LNG), environmentally safe double hull fuel tanks and fresh water ballast systems.
Getting there: Attendees will enter Matson’s main security gate at the end of Pier C Street and will need to provide a picture ID, preferably a TWIC. Attendees should also plan on wearing slacks as well as closed toe, flat shoes.
If you’re able to join us, and haven’t yet done so, please RSVP by close of business on Tuesday, February 12, so that we can have an accurate headcount for lunch and so that we can promptly provide the ship with a list of attendees.
Thanks again to Serena Webber-Bey for organizing the meeting and vessel tour for us.
Looking forward to seeing you on Friday!
