2020 AGM & Conference news: we’re going virtual!
July 9, 2020
The first decision we made, to postpone WISTA USA’s AGM & Conference set for March 19-20 in Houston, was bittersweet. We knew it was the right call, but very much regret not having the chance to celebrate all the hard work of our Texas Chapter and enjoy the education, networking, and camaraderie that our meetings always provide. But we have big news: WISTA USA’s 2020 Annual General Meeting will be held virtually on July 9th. Specific details will be forthcoming soon, so please do stay tuned. We will forego the conference this year and stick solely to the business meeting, but have arranged to use a platform that will allow every WISTA USA member to participate.
Because our Texas Chapter has worked so very hard to put together this year’s events, we have decided to hold WISTA USA’s 2021 AGM & Conference in Houston. We’ll follow up with dates and other information in the near term. Our Great Lakes Midwest Chapter has graciously agreed to host us in 2022.
As you’ll see from the Meeting Notice and Agenda emailed to all current WISTA USA members, one of the key activities for our AGM will be the election of three (3) candidates for WISTA USA’s Board of Directors.
In order to be eligible to vote in the upcoming election you MUST
1. be a member of WISTA USA, and
2. you MUST have your dues paid IN FULL by June 26.
We did give an extension to having your dues paid and will still honor that. If you are a member and have not paid your dues by June 26th, you can still participate in the WISTA USA AGM, but you are not allowed to vote in accordance with our bylaws. If you cannot locate your dues invoice please email at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will gladly send it you so that you may take part in the election.
No doubt you’re wondering about this one, particularly in these challenging financial times. Please rest assured that WISTA USA will issue refunds for the AGM & Conference registration fee for those who request it. If you prefer, however, you can defer those charges to next year’s events. (Wouldn’t it be nice not to have to go back to the well?) We have circulated instructions via email from Constant Contact to those who had registered. If you have not received the email/cannot locate it, please email at email@example.com and I will forward it to you directly.
