Raised in southwest Alabama, never more than a mile or two from water, Cole knew from a young age he wanted to continue the “family business” as a mariner. As the fifth generation to pursue this line of work, and the first to receive a formal education in it, Cole attended the Texas A&M Maritime Academy from 2013 to 2017. Following graduation, he sailed with OSG in the Jones Act trade moving both crude oil and clean product. In 2019, Cole was hired at BP North America as a ship operator in their Trading & Shipping arm of the business where he remains today. As ship operator, he’s responsible for the ‘safe transport of hydrocarbons across water,’ aiding in BP’s maritime commerce for one of three regions in the world.
