7th WISTA Africa Conference

Today at the 7th WISTA Africa Conference in Cape Town, WISTA International President Elpi Petraki and General Secretary Jemilat Mahamah delivered notable speeches.

The conference, themed “Turning the Tide: Towards Effective Regional Cooperation to Optimize Economic Growth,” aimed to gather participants from across the region to discuss strategies for promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion, as well as fostering collaboration to enhance regional inclusivity and drive economic and environmental impact.
The president of WISTA South Africa Amsha Gengan made a detailed outline of the WISTA history and initiatives in the region.

A big thank you to the International Maritime Organization Secretary-General, Arsenio Dominguez for welcoming all by video to the works of the conference, to Ms. Ondrilla Fernandes, Employment Affairs Advisor at the International Chamber of Shipping, who discussed the vital initiatives undertaken by the ICS, particularly their focus on diversity and inclusivity and to Amb. Nancy Karigithu for her inspiring words
